I had a playlist of local files on my iPhone 8 spotify app, I noticed all my songs/playlists were removed from their downloaded form. Since redownloding everything the only thing that refused to go back to normal was the one local files playlist I had.

  1. On desktop, import your local files (with the 'Desktop' steps).
  2. Add the files to a new playlist.
  3. Log in on your mobile or tablet using the same WiFi as your desktop.
  4. Go to Settings > Local Files and switch on Local audio files.
Note: You need to allow Spotify to find devices in the prompt that shows.
  5. Download the playlist with your local files.
  1. Step 6: The app will list all the playlists you have created in your Spotify account along with local files you have imported from your hard disk. If you would like to sync the entire local.
  2. Note: With this method, you can't download Spotify songs individually but have to either download an entire album or save the track to a playlist, which you can then download for offline listening. Besides, the option to download Spotify songs and playlists is currently not available for the web player yet.
  3. I don't know what's going on. On my phone under the title of the song there is a! Surrounded in a circle with the song greyed out. I've been able to download local files to my phone before but it doesn't work this time for some reason. Also the spotify on my PC won't download my songs either. It's stuck on 'Waiting.'
  4. Yeh it won't sync local files under the latest version of Android. It's not that it doesnt actually sync it, but on the phone on android. There is no option for local files. It doesn't come up. Tho it is on the computer Spotify app. The only way to do it, is to make a playlist. Drag everything from local files into the playlist.
  5. It is Spotify's fault – well, kind of. Playing your music collection through Spotify on Sonos would require the files being uploaded to Spotify's server first, a service Spotify doesn't offer/support. If I were you I would give Google Music or Apple Music a try.
  6. Short summary Basically my problem is that spotify won't sync my local files (embedded in my offline playlists). Under the device menu on my computer, the playlist are checked. The ones having local files in them are just saying 'Pending' and won't start downloading the local tracks.

The iTunes lossless format (M4A) isn't supported.

If your file isn’t supported, we do our best to match it with songs from the Spotify catalog. The version we match with might differ from the original.
