Spotify App Doesnt Recognize Chromecast

Now, as the event is nearing kickoff, some users are already noticing their Chromecast devices appearing in the Spotify Connect list, although the feature doesn’t seem to be working quit yet. Restarting spotify once (killing it in the recent apps) usually doesn't work. However, when I restart the app three times it consistently manages to connect afterwards. Other apps work without problems. Clearly, this is a problem with the app rather than the Chromecast. Just add a refresh button or something, especially since restarting the app. I suppose for example that the Spotify app must be started on the Chromecast (for it show up on your desktop as well). It looks like the Spotify app on my phone is no longer able to detect the Chromecast when the Chromecast app is not started yet where the tablet does. The Chromecast (normal, new one) in my TV gives me the same result. Are Spotify users able to cast music from Spotify software (Windows 8/10 PC), but I don't see my Chromecast Audio on my available device list. I only see my 2 PC. I tried on both my PC. Could someone help me with this issue? P.S.: I see ChromeCast Audio on my Android App. Just as the subject heading says, when using my Macbook Pro (13', 2017) the Spotify app does not see any of my the Chromecast devices I have set up in my home. Yet Spotify + Chromecast works just fine on my desktop Mac, and on my iPhone. Also, I can Chromecast using Google Chrome browser on my laptop.

Spotify App Doesnt Recognize Chromecast

This brief guide will show you how to stream from the Windows and Mac versions of Spotify to your Chromecast – and offers some troubleshooting tips if you’re having difficulty getting it working.

Spotify Doesn't See Chromecast

  1. First, make sure your Chromecast and the computer running Spotify are on the same network. In Spotify, click the Devices Available button in the bottom-right corner of the window, right next to the Volume button.
  2. Select your Chromecast from the list of devices. That’s it! If your Chromecast device isn’t listed, continue with step #3 below.
  3. Even with your Chromecast on, and working with other Apps, for some reason it isn’t always picked up by the Windows and macOS versions of Spotify.
  4. The most surefire way to get Spotify to ‘find’ your Chromecast is to grab your smartphone or tablet and briefly use it to connect to Chromecast. Open Spotify on your phone/tablet then locate and click the Devices Available link.
  5. Select Chromecast from the list.
  6. Now back on your computer, Spotify should find and recognize your Chromecast. You can resume control of Spotify here (and close Spotify on your phone/tablet).
  7. If you have any tips to make Spotify find a nearby Chromecast without having to use a phone or tablet by all means leave a comment below!

Set Spotify as your default service for music and podcasts so you don’t need to specify “on Spotify” at the end of your voice commands to play music:

  1. Tap the menu in the top-left.
  2. Tap Settings, then Music & Podcasts.
  3. Tap Choose default music services.
Note: To set Spotify as your default podcast service, tap Choose default podcast service.
  4. Select Spotify and tap DONE.

Note: You still need to say “on Spotify” at the end of commands to play podcasts.

Now just ask Alexa to play something! E.g. 'Alexa, play Discover Weekly'. Check out the Amazon help site for supported languages.
